Cookies

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. Most big websites do this too.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

What are the different types of cookies?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs. By lifespan, a cookie is either a:

  • session cookie which is erased when the user closes the browser or
  • persistent cookie which remains on the user's computer/device for a pre-defined period of time.

As for the domain to which it belongs, there are either:

  • first-party cookies which are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain
  • third-party cookies stored by a different domain to the visited page's domain.

How do we use cookies?

We use the following cookies:

  • Disclaimer Cookie – this is a first party persistent cookie which remembers your action in accepting our website cookie disclaimer and remains on your computer for two years (unless you otherwise remove it);
  • Google Analytics Cookies -  these are first party persistent cookies which are used to collect information about how visitors use our website. The cookies collect information anonymously, including the number of visitors to our website, where visitors have come to our website from and the pages they have visited. We use this information to compile reports and to help us improve our website. The cookies remain on your computer for two years. See more information about Google's privacy policy;
  • Google Tracking Cookies – these are third party persistent cookies which are used for user tracking and advertising targeting and personalisation purposes and remain on your computer for up to 6 months.

How to control cookies

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see aboutcookies.org. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
